So, the Republican Senators are now getting death threats. So much for elections by and for the people. I remember president Obama saying that he and the liberals had won the election and so the losers (Republicans) had better get used to it. I guess when the reverse is true the Democrats cry foul.

The teachers and others had better beware. I have watched the way these big national unions work. In the Silver Valley where I live there used to be many good union mining jobs. That all ended in 1983. The unions demanded way, way, too much and the Bunker Hill mining company was put out of business. I remember what happened very well for I was there.

The Bunker Hill company was loosing money big time and announced they were going out of business. Wow, that sounds familiar doesn't it. Three very rich Idaho businessmen stepped up and said they would buy the Bunker Hill company and keep it open. This was a big, big risk for these rich men. They were willing to risk millions and millions of dollars. All they asked was that the union give up some wages and benefits. I remember looking at it and thinking those rich guys were very likely going to loose all their money. It was a very iffy deal and really only helped the workers. It would be years and years before the rich guys could make back their money, if ever.

There was a big vote among all the union workers and it was voted to give the cuts in wages and benefits. A real no brainer. The alternative was YOU LOOSE YOUR JOB!

The union (Steelworkers union) suddenly said NO and that the vote was not binding after all. It was really just an advisory vote. The union then turned down the offer, the company closed and close to 5000 people in this valley lost their jobs.

I noticed that while all my customers lost their jobs, all the big union officials left the valley and of course, kept theirs. I could go into much greater detail on this but what does it matter? You either get the idea of what happened or you don't!

A few of my customers then got jobs for Kaiser Aluminum Corporation over in Washington state. The union there demanded too much and they closed too. I don't know so much about that one... none of my laid off customers would talk about it. Just a bit too painful I guess.

Small, company unions serve a real purpose. The only purpose of big national unions is to get more power for big national unions.

You will notice he said people were willing to pay their dues. Not true. The dues are mandatory. Why not give them a choice as to whether or not to pay those dues?

How did we get this way? If you have the time read this short essay by Michael Barone. Interesting, isn't it?

OK, How do I say this without being offensive. I am really interested in what you say but I don't give a flying passage of gas in a hot place about what you think!

WOW, what does that mean? Simply this. I am interested in what you say about the things I say and you can tell the truth to me because you can't offend me. That is because I don't care about what you think of me! You can FLAME me, Rant and Rave, say you love me or say you hate me, it's all the same to me!

I am interested in how you come to whatever opinion you have, why you say what you say. Lately, I keep hearing and reading about people who say they HATE, absolutely HATE Palin, Beck, O'Reilly, Fox, ETC. They are just liar, liar pants on fire. However, they never seem to be able to give proof or at least some kind of reason for what they say. I gave you reasons why I feel as I do so if you disagree with me can you give me some reason why?

So there you go. Tell me what you think. I promise to read what you say but I will not write back because I don't care what you think. I only care about what you say!
